Bread and Circus is inspired by the welcoming, friendly Trattoria’s of Rome where the menus are dictated by custom and comfort, the atmosphere is fun and friendly and the room is bright and warm. Our dishes are all inspired by takes on these longstanding recipes from Rome’s expansive empire with a few tweaks for a modern day take.
The name Bread and Circus comes from a Satirical poet’s writings in the second century: “Two things only the people anxiously desire – bread and circuses”. He was referring to the fact that the government was controlling votes and its population with food and entertainment. Almost two thousand years later and we are still using this phrase. We loved that it’s a nod to Roman culture and very à propos for modern times. We have also interpreted in to mean something else for Bread and Circus Trattoria – Dinner and a Show.

Due to the size of our very small restaurant, we offer two seatings nightly for reservations;

The largest party we are able to accomodate is six people.
